Canadian reanimobile brought a person injured in road accident to Kharkiv
As a result of collision with a motorcycle a 39-year-old driver of scooter received complicated leg and collarbone fractures. First aid was provided to the injured in Blyzniukivskyi district hospital and then he was transported to the Institute of spinal and joint pathologies of Sitenko in Kharkiv via donated Canadian reanimobile.
The crash occurred on March 27th in the village of Blyzniuki. Local resident Andrii Tkach, who was riding a scooter, got intercepted by a motorcycle at crossroads. The collision resulted in severe limbs injuries.
"He fell on his right side, hit his head, broke his collarbone and leg in two places - on the knee and lower. He was taken to the hospital - given first aid and set a plaster cast," - says Tetiana, wife of the injured.
The district hospital does not treat such complex injuries, so the injured needed highly specialized medical care, which could be provided only in Kharkiv. On March 29th the patient was transported to the Institute of spinal and joint pathologies of Sitenko.
"He needed surgery because he had been previously injured in ATO, his injuries were very severe and the patient was treated at the Institute of Sitenko. The damage received in the accident is such that the patient might not be able to walk at all even with crutches. A surgery has to be performed for rehabilitation to become possible," - says head physician of Blyzniukivskyi Central District Hospital, Larisa Polikova.
To transport a reclining patient to Kharkiv a specialized vehicle was used, the one that was donated to the district hospital by Canadian benefactors. It is the only vehicle in the hospital’s car park capable of traversing bad roads and providing the necessary safety and care for the injured at the same time. The patient endured transportation well and now is in the hands of skillful specialists in Kharkiv.
This is the fourth ride for the Canadian reanimobile of Blyzniukivskyi district hospital.
