Public Transport Stops Installed in Three More Districts
New bus stops sprung up in the village of Oleksiivka in the Pervomaiskyi district, in Ivanivka Druha of the Barvinkove district, as well as in the town of Valky. They have been produced and installed at the expense of the Charitable Foundation of Social Development in the Kharkiv Region.
Oleksiivka is the biggest village in the Pervomaiskyi district and a former district center with over 1800 residents. Earlier, the bus from Pervomaiskyi used to stop at the beginning of the village and never drove further. Yet, it’s been already about 15 years since the route was extended, because the village stretches 10 kilometers long. Officially, five additional stops have been approved. Though stops they may hardly be called because they were just spots at the roadside where people used to wait for the public transport to arrive. The Foundation installed a bus stop right at one of such spots near a busy intersection.
“Thank you for the gift; now we have a place to hide from the bad weather instead of standing at the roadside,” said the Headman of Oleksiivka Heorhii Mytrofanov. “We also plan to bring gravel here so that there would be no mud on rainy days. Unfortunately, there is very little money in the budget of the village, so it’s unlikely that we would be able to install a stop at our own expense. I hope for our continuing cooperation with the Foundation in this regard.”
In the Barvinkove district a stop was erected in the village of Ivanivka Druha. The bus from Kharkiv to Barvinkove drives through the village every day and stops twice here – at the beginning of the village and in the center. A fixed stop has been placed at the beginning of Ivanivka Druha many years ago, but in the center people had to wait for the bus under the rain and snow, because there was no shelter. The situation has been remedied – owing to the Foundation, village residents won’t suffer from foul weather while waiting for the transport.
“We badly needed that stop, because there was no shelter in that place. Now the people are happy. As for me, I expressed gratefulness to the Foundation on pages of the district newspaper VistiBarvinkivshchyny on behalf of the entire village,” said Vasyl Lirnyk, thehead of the Ivanivka Druha village council.
Following the initiative of the charity givers, one more public transport stop emerged in Valky. It was installed near the building of the district court – many people get on the bus there in order to go to the village of Koviahy.
“Along with the head of the Valky city council Valerii Skrypnichenko, we discussed various spots where to place the stop. Finally we decided to install it here near the court, because there is always a lot of people there,” stated Yevhen Shapoval, the Chairman of the Management Board of the Foundation of Social Development in the Kharkiv Region. “In the future we intend to implement many other projects in the Valky, Pervomaiskyi, and other districts, which will be useful for locals.”
Earlier, the Foundation has installed bus stops in the Blyzniuky, Velykyi Burluk and Borova districts. The aim of this charitable mini project is to improve rural infrastructure.
