Volunteer Doctors Provided Over 1000 Medical Services to Residents in the Shevchenkove District
Since the beginning of summer the medical team of the Charitable Foundation of Social Development in the Kharkiv Region has visited a number of villages in the Shevchenkove district, such as Starovirivka, Borivske, and Hroza. Despitethe “hotseason” invillages, theircitizenswerelookingforwardtothevolunteerdoctors’ arrivalandreservedanopportunityandtimetocome for a check-up to regional specialists. Every doctor from the medical team had three to five dozens of check-ups. In total they provided around one thousand consultations, prescriptions and recommendations.
The popularity of on-site visits is easily explained – medical service is an ever-lasting problem for villagers. It means travelling expenses, dependency on a vehicle, lack of time for waiting in a cue, obtaining family doctor’s reference to the necessary specialist, who in turn serves residents of three or four villages and has specific receiving hours for each village.
“No comments are needed when specialists from Kharkiv arrive to villages with careful and polite attitude to every visitor, provide professional advice and consultations, and in certain cases even insist on more profound examination and inpatient treatment,” said the Foundation’s representative in the Shevchenkove district Svitlana Zakharchenko after talking to the locals. “People are very pleased with politeness and empathy of doctors, as well as with their professional skills and tolerance.”
Mobile medical teams of the Foundation of Social Development keep on working, which means that the volunteer doctors will pay numerous visits to the Shevchenkove district.
